Naidu directs officials to prevent drinking water shortage

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to monitor water levels and rainfall to prevent shortages across the state. He also directed the Transport Department to simplify procedures and reduce corruption through the use of technology.
Why it matters
Proactive water management and administrative reform are key priorities for state governance to ensure resource security and efficient public service delivery.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to ensure that no part of the State faced a shortage of drinking water and asked them to closely monitor rainfall patterns and reservoir levels to enable timely intervention.
Reviewing the performance of various departments at a meeting held at the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) in the Secretariat, Mr. Naidu stressed the need for continuous monitoring of water availability in reservoirs and the implementation of contingency measures wherever necessary.
Officials informed him that improved rainfall in the upper catchment areas was expected to enhance water availability in the Krishna and Godavari river basins. They also briefed him on the flood situation in the Godavari and the likely impact of inflows into reservoirs.
