Nagercoil Corporation steps up e-waste collection efforts
The Nagercoil Corporation has launched a monthly e-waste collection drive across local schools and colleges to promote scientific disposal. The initiative successfully gathered over two tonnes of electronic waste in its first week, which will be processed at a local recovery facility.

As part of its efforts to ensure proper disposal of e-waste, Nagercoil Corporation is conducting a collection drive across all schools and colleges in all 52 wards of the city.
The initiative will be held on the 15th of every month at government and private schools and colleges within the Corporation limits. The drive aims to create awareness of safe handling, segregation, collection and scientific disposal of electronic waste among the younger generation.
According to a Corporation official, school and college students actively participate in the drive by bringing unused and discarded electronic items from their homes. Items such as mobile phones, chargers, computers, keyboards, batteries, electronic accessories and other discarded electrical and electronic equipment were collected during the drive held last week. More than two tonnes of e-waste materials were collected from across the Corporation limits.
