An awareness seminar on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for headmasters and headmistress of schools was held under the jurisdiction of Nagercoil Corporation on Friday.
The programme was presided over by Mayor-incharge Mary Princy Latha in the presence of Corporation Commissioner R. Ishwarya.
Kanniyakumari Collector M. Prathap attended the event as chief guest and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of HPV vaccination, its benefits and the importance of administering the vaccine to eligible girls.
The participants were provided with detailed information about the role of vaccination in protecting the health of girls and preventing cervical cancer. The importance of creating awareness among female students and their parents through school headmasters and headmistresses was also emphasised during the programme. The school authorities were urged to disseminate information about HPV vaccination and encourage parents to understand its benefits and importance.
