Nabakooba warns couples against airing marital disputes on social media

Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba has warned couples against taking marital disagreements to social media, saying public attacks, exposure and humiliation can undermine trust and destabilise relationships.

Ms Nabakooba said couples are increasingly using social media platforms to air private disagreements, turning personal conflicts into public disputes that can be difficult to resolve.

“Social media has become a threat to marriages because many people are using it badly. Let us trust in God and avoid quarrelling on social media. We should use these platforms responsibly and not allow them to destroy our relationships,” she said.

Ms Nabakooba also attributed marital challenges to declining reliance on God and urged couples to strengthen their faith as they deal with disagreements and other pressures within marriage.

Her warning comes as social media becomes entrenched in couples’ daily communication, fuelling disputes over messages, comments, interactions with others and exposure of private information.
