ISRO has appointed N. Jayan as the director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre and Joji J. Chaman as the head of the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit. Both leaders bring extensive experience in cryogenic technology and space robotics to their new roles.
Why it matters
Leadership changes at key ISRO units are critical for the continued success of India's space exploration and launch vehicle programs.
Alongside the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), two other Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) units in Thiruvananthapuram – the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) and the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) – are also getting new directors.
This is a straightforward announcement of professional appointments within a government agency.
