Mysuru to become headquarters of South Karnataka Postal Region

The Indian government has approved the relocation of the South Karnataka Postal Region headquarters from Bengaluru to Mysuru. This decision follows advocacy by local MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar to decentralize administrative functions.
Why it matters
This move aims to boost the administrative significance of Mysuru and improve government service accessibility for the region.
In a significant development for Mysuru, the Union government has accorded in-principle approval to shift the headquarters of the South Karnataka Postal Region from Bengaluru to Mysuru, following efforts from Mysuru–Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia communicated the decision to Mr. Yaduveer Wadiyar in an official letter dated October 7, acknowledging the MP’s earlier representation seeking the relocation of the regional headquarters.
In his communication, the Union Minister stated that the Department of Posts had examined the matter as part of its ongoing exercise to revamp and optimise its administrative structure. The proposal to relocate the headquarters from Bengaluru to Mysuru was found justified, and in-principle approval has been accorded, a press release from the MP’s office said.
