Mysuru is undergoing a facelift ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on August 1, with roads along the convoy route being resurfaced, public spaces beautified and security measures stepped up for the high-profile event.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in the city on Saturday afternoon to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) on N.S. Road. Developed by the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, the memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru and his stay at the Niranjan Mutt, also known as the Old Anathalaya, where the memorial has been established.
Ahead of the visit, civic authorities have undertaken beautification works around the venue. Roads along the Prime Minister’s convoy route have been given a fresh layer of asphalt, while the compound walls of Maharani’s College, opposite the Viveka Smaraka, have been repainted to enhance the surroundings.
