Mysuru hosts march for total animal liberation

Hundreds of people gathered in front of the old Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Saturday and took part in the Animal Liberation March, calling for an end to the use and exploitation of animals for food, clothing, entertainment and other purposes.

The march and subsequent demonstration focused on total animal liberation rather than merely improving animal welfare standards. Participants raised slogans and carried placards bearing messages supporting animal liberation.

The march proceeded to Town Hall before returning to the old Deputy Commissioner office.

Vasudha, one of the organisers, highlighted the continued use of horses for transportation in Mysuru despite the availability of modern vehicles. “Animals are not here to serve humans and they are not our slaves. It is high time society collectively changed its mindset and moved beyond what we were taught in childhood,” she said.
