Mysuru Dasara Food Mela vendors oppose lottery system for stall allotment

The Mysuru Dasara Food Mela Vendors’ Association has opposed the authorities’ move to select vendors for stall allotment through a lottery system.
Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Monday, association president Nagaraju S. urged the Mysuru Dasara Food Mela sub-committee to drop the proposed lottery system and instead give preference to vendors who have been participating in the Mysuru Dasara Food Mela continuously for the past 15 years.
Members of the Vendors’ Association alleged that some applicants had submitted multiple applications in the names of their relatives to improve their chances of selection under the proposed lottery system.
This, according to association vice-president Shantha M., would put genuine vendors who had submitted a single application at a disadvantage.
