Muslim Welfare Society announces awards

The Muslim Welfare Society has announced three awards for contributions to education, humanitarian service, and journalism, with Najeeb Kanthapuram (MLA), Gopinath Muthukad (magician/social worker), and Raveendran Ravaneshwaram (journalist-writer) as the recipients. Each award includes ₹1 lakh, a citation, and a plaque, to be presented in Kanhangad in mid-September.

The Muslim Welfare Society has chosen Najeeb Kanthapuram, MLA, magician and social worker Gopinath Muthukad and journalist-writer Raveendran Ravaneshwaram for three awards recognising contributions to education, humanitarian service, and journalism.
The awardees were announced by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and Muslim Youth League State president Syed Munawwarali Shihab Thangal at a press conference in Kozhikode on Tuesday (September 1, 2026).
Mr. Kanthapuram will receive the educational empowerment award instituted in memory of Metro Mohammed Haji, who was the society's chief patron.
Mr. Muthukad has been selected for the humanitarian award instituted in memory of T. Abubacker Haji, who served as the society's lifelong chairman.
