Musk backs Texas as tech hub, but Governor Abbott agrees with data centre backlash

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said that companies building AI data centres have dug their own grave. “They basically dug their own grave for the problem that's been caused for them, and that's why they got the backlash they deserve”, Abbott said in an interview on ABC's "This Week" recently. The governor who was once a data-center booster said that the American criticism against data-centres is “well-earned” adding “Gaining the support of people in local communities is essential”.Texas, the state where Elon Musk has encouraged businesses to relocate and where Tesla moved its headquarters, has experienced growing scrutiny over the rapid expansion of data centers.During the interview, Governor Abbott said data centre companies had made a mistake by rushing projects into communities without first winning local support.
