President Museveni has eulogised the late Christopher Mulenga, 86, as a dependable NRM cadre and responsible leader who championed the interests of ordinary people in Kigezi, particularly through entrepreneurship and business.

Mr Mulenga died on August 28 at a private health facility in Kabale town after battling diabetes for a long time, according to his son, Mr John Ngarukiye.

He is survived by 12 children, about 30 grandchildren and about five great-grandchildren.

Mr Mulenga served for 31 years as a district councillor representing Northern Division at Kabale District Council, where he also served for many years as the NRM chief whip.

He was also the NRM treasurer for Kabale District, a position he used to mentor young politicians and encourage them to embrace NRM politics.
