Murder accused on the run for seven years arrested

Coimbatore police have arrested a 39-year-old man who had been absconding for seven years following his release on bail for a 2017 murder case. The suspect was apprehended after being spotted posing as a religious mendicant.

The Coimbatore District Police have arrested a 39-year-old man who had been on the run since 2019 after his release on bail in a murder case. The arrested was identified as J. Karthick of Vaiyyapuri Street at Sundakkamuthur near Perur.
According to the police, C. Kamalam (70) lived alone at her residence on Bank Street at Sundakkamuthur after the death of her husband. Her son Nagamanickam, who resided at Alandurai with his family, would visit and support her financially.
On December 19, 2017, Nagamanickam visited his mother around noon and left later, telling her that he would come back in the evening. When he returned around 9.30 p.m., he found his mother lying dead in the kitchen with severe head injuries.
