Mumbai to get Travellator-Equipped Skywalk linking Monorail, Metro 3 and Suburban Railway
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is nearing completion of the Mahalaxmi Multimodal Connectivity Project, which features India's first travellator-equipped skywalk. The project aims to integrate the Monorail, Metro Line 3, and suburban railway stations to significantly reduce passenger transfer times.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) informed on Sunday (July 26, 2026) that it has completed approximately 90% of the Mahalaxmi Multimodal Connectivity Project
The project will connect Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk Monorail Station, Metro Line 3 and Mahalaxmi Suburban Railway Station through India’s first travellator-equipped skywalk.
It aims to integrate the interchange, reduce transfer time by approximately 20 minutes, improve access to the Mumbai Monorail from South Mumbai and Worli, and encourage greater use of public transport through multimodal connectivity.
The project consists of 283-metre-long integrated pedestrian bridge, 11-metre-wide structure for passenger movement, six travellators with a combined length of 176 metres, two passenger lifts for universal accessibility, having capacity to accommodate approximately 4,500 passengers every hour.
