The Mukkam police on Wednesday took into custody two youths who allegedly intercepted and attacked a private bus at Poolappoyil. The incident occurred around 4.40 p.m. on the Edavanna-Koyilandy State highway. The bus, travelling from Manjeri to Omasery via Mukkam, was carrying several passengers, including students.
According to the police and passengers, the youths in an inebriated state attempted to stop the bus by signalling to the driver at Agastyamuzhi. The driver did not stop, citing the steep and winding stretch of road. The youths allegedly followed the bus on a motorcycle and intercepted it at Poolappoyil.
