Mudenda backs dialogue to end divisions in Mozambique

PARLIAMENT Speaker Jacob Mudenda has said political independence without unity, peace and security will not deliver economic independence for Africa, accusing the Global North of fuelling conflicts in the Global South.
Mudenda made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with Margarida Adamugy Talapa, Speaker of the Mozambique National Assembly, who is in Zimbabwe on an official visit.
Talapa is accompanied by several political party chief whips and other members of the Mozambican Parliament.
“It is disturbing to note that a third hand is involved in the destabilisation of most African countries, including Mozambique, where the mineral-rich Cabo Delgado province is under attack by insurgents,” Mudenda said.
“One area of conflict affects the entire country. There must be total peace throughout the nation. We wish you well because that area, Cabo Delgado, is very rich in minerals.
