The statement highlights the intersection of regional political loyalty and the distribution of national resources in Kenyan governance.

Mudavadi accused the region of weakening its bargaining power through political divisions, saying its ability to secure influential positions in government and Parliament depended on electing more leaders aligned with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking on Saturday during a meeting with bishops in Nyang’ori, Vihiga county, Mudavadi said residents could not expect to influence national resource allocation without securing sufficient representation in Parliament.
“You don't vote for us and then you say give us. Wacheni mchezo. That is the problem that we have in this Western region,” he said.
