Mt Albert Grammar School has confirmed the person hit by a train at the Baldwin Ave level crossing yesterday was one of its students.
Police said they are investigating the death on behalf of the coroner and are not yet able to release information about the boy who died.
“This is a tragic event for our community, and our thoughts are with his family today who are coming to terms with what has happened,” Auckland City West Area Commander, Inspector Jacqui Whittaker said. “I know the community will have them in their thoughts as well.
“We extend our sympathies to the Mt Albert Grammar School community who are grieving. Our school community officer is engaged with the school and supporting them.”
