A motorist was killed after being run over by a water tanker near Keelkattalai in Chennai on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) night.
According to Tambaram Police, the victim identified as Karuppaiah was a resident of Sunambu Kolathur near Pallikaranai. He had gone to a tea shop on Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road and was returning home on his motorcycle on Sunambu Kolathur Main Road.
As he approached the anganwadi centre in S. Kolathur, he steered his motorcycle to the side of the road to give way for a water tanker that was coming behind him. Unexpectedly, he lost control of his vehicle and fell on the road. The water tanker ran over, killing him on the spot. The tanker’s driver fled from the scene.
