Motorcyclist, son seriously hurt in 10-vehicle crash on Melaka highway

MELAKA: A motorcyclist and his 11-year-old son were seriously injured in a 10-vehicle collision on the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway in Cheng last night.
Melaka Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Supt Muhammad Zaki Ramat said the accident, which occurred at about 9pm, involved seven cars, a lorry, a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a motorcycle carrying the father and son.
He said the 39-year-old motorcyclist suffered a broken leg, while his son sustained serious head injuries and required intubation after their motorcycle was struck from behind.
"Preliminary investigations found that a 4WD vehicle travelling from Malim towards Cheng is believed to have lost control before crashing into several vehicles that had stopped at a traffic light intersection, including the motorcycle carrying the two victims.
