Mother, daughter electrocuted by live wire loosened in rain at Nathavaram in Andhra’s Anakapalli district
A mother and daughter were fatally electrocuted in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district after touching a live, rain-soaked electrical wire dangling from a rooftop. A family member who tried to intervene was also injured and hospitalized. Local officials have urged residents to immediately report damaged service lines during severe weather.

A mother and her daughter were electrocuted, and the daughter’s husband was injured, after coming into contact with a live galvanised iron (GI) support wire in Golla Veedhi of Nathavaram mandal in Anakapalli district in the early hours of Thursday (September 24, 2026).
The deceased were identified as Gompa Manga, 55, and Rongala Janaki, 28, of Golla Veedhi, Nathavaram.
Continuous rain had soaked the GI support wire connected to the electrical service line of a local resident, Gompa Apparao alias Chinnababu, the police said. The insulation tape had peeled off, and the live wire snapped and dangled from the rooftop into the verandah.
At about 3.30 a.m., Janaki stepped out to use the bathroom and touched the hanging wire. Hearing her screams, her mother rushed to help her and was electrocuted too.
