That is certainly true of "Veedu Varai Uravu" from the 1962 Tamil film "Paadha Kaanikkai", which was released on July 14 that year.
Penned by legendary lyricist Kannadasan, composed by M S Viswanathan and T K Ramamoorthy, and brought to life by the unmistakable voice of T M Soundararajan, the song has become far more than a film soundtrack.
More than six decades later, it remains one of Tamil cinema's most enduring reflections on life, love and the relationships that shape us.
Its most memorable verse is deceptively simple:
"Veedu varai uravu
Veedhi varai manaivi
Kaadu varai pillai
Kadaisi varai yaaro"
Translated, it reads:
"Relations accompany you till home.
