BENGALURU: A 31-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after enduring months of physical and mental harassment over dowry by her husband and father-in-law, prompting police to register a case against the duo.The deceased has been identified as Maimunnisa. She was married to Junaid, 28, a resident of Doddamavalli, on January 19, 2024. At the time of the marriage, the bride's family gave 45 grams of gold jewellery, a branded watch, and a scooter as dowry. Maimunnisa and Junaid had fallen in love, and they convinced their parents to agree to the marriage. She worked as a part-time teacher at a private school, while Junaid worked as a designer in a factory.Her father, Syed Khalid, in his complaint stated that although Junaid initially treated his daughter well, his behaviour later changed.
