Monthly air cargo crosses 700-tonne mark since COVID-19 at Tiruchi airport

The Tiruchi International Airport has achieved a significant milestone by handling 721 tonnes of international cargo in August 2026. This is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that the monthly cargo has crossed the 700-tonne mark at Tiruchi airport.
Of the 721 tonnes of export cargo, approximately 685 tonnes comprised vegetables, fruits, flowers, dairy products, chilled fish, and prawns. The remaining 36 tonnes comprised garments, fabrics, food products, and imitation jewellery.
The entire cargo during the month comprised exports, indicating the growing importance of Tiruchi as an international gateway for exporters and trade fraternity. The achievement reflects the continued recovery and growth of international air cargo operations at Tiruchi after the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport has been witnessing increasing demand from the exporters, particularly for perishables and other high-value commodities.
