Monsoon revival triggers release of nearly 5.5 tmcft from Kabini dam in three days
The Kabini dam in Mysuru has released 5.5 tmcft of water over three days due to heavy monsoon inflows from Kerala. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the reservoir nears its full capacity amid ongoing red alerts for rainfall.

Following the warning of extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Kerala, including Wayanad, the inflow into Kabini dam in Mysuru district is expected to remain steady in the coming days, with the dam authorities closely monitoring the situation amid the forecast and the expectation of enhanced inflows.
With the reported ‘Orange Alert’ upgraded to ‘Red Alert’ in certain districts of the neighbouring State, resulting in heavy downpour, a further rise in the inflow was foreseen. Almost the same quantity of water received by the dam was being released into the river to ensure the dam’s safety even as the reservoir level is nearly two feet short to reach the full reservoir level (FRL).
The inflow was 27,988 cusecs at 8 a.m. on Tuesday (August 4), and almost the same quantity of water was discharged into the river. The outflow was 27,000 cusecs at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
