Monsoon rains flood parts of Metro Manila; some roads impassable to light vehicles

MANILA, Philippines - Heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat flooded several areas in Metro Manila on Sunday, with some major roads becoming impassable to light vehicles and one section closed to all types of vehicles.The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported flooding in parts of Quezon City, Las Pi as, Para aque, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Malabon and Manila.The deepest flood was recorded in Las Pi as, where water reached knee level at the Alabang-Zapote Junction and along Marcos Alvarez Road from Wonderland to Savemore. Both areas were impassable to light vehicles.In Para aque, half-tire-deep flooding was reported near the Ninoy Aquino Oyster Plaza, making the area impassable to light vehicles.The southbound portion of Dr. A. Santos Avenue in front of SM Sucat in Barangay San Dionisio was closed to all types of vehicles.
