DEHRADUN: Deepak Kumar aka ‘Mohammad’ Deepak, who shot into limelight for confronting members of Bajrang Dal who were harassing an elderly Muslim shopkeeper in Kotdwar area of Garhwal early this year, was arrested on Thursday evening for allegedly assaulting a local trader over an online comment related to ‘partial’ demolition of a mosque in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.According to police, Sanjeev Tonk, the trader, accused Kumar, who used to run a gym, of assault over a comment made by him on a social media post purportedly uploaded by the latter.Pauri Garhwal SSP, Sarvesh Panwar, told TOI: “An FIR was registered against Kumar under BNS sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 351 (criminal intimidation). The complainant said ‘Kumar didn’t like one of his comments on Facebook’.
