Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump share a special bond, U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said in Manipur on Friday (September 11, 2026).

India is set to host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi from September 12 to 13 . Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other heads of state from member and partner countries are scheduled to attend.

“The bond between Mr. Modi and Mr. Trump goes beyond the normal Prime Minister-President relationship,” the Ambassador told Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in Imphal, insisting that Mr. Trump cherished this relationship.

Mr. Gor also said he was happy that the Prime Minister was focusing on the development of the northeastern region, “which is good for a diverse country like India”.
