Modernisation of Mangaluru fishing harbour will be over by May, 2027, Karnataka tells Union government
The Karnataka government has informed the Union government that the modernization of the Mangaluru fishing harbour is 25% complete, with a final deadline of May 2027. The project is funded under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to improve infrastructure for thousands of fishers.

The Karnataka government has reported to the Union government that modernisation and upgradation of the Mangaluru fishing harbour project has achieved a physical progress of 25%.
The State government has reported that the pending components of the project are scheduled to be completed by May 21, 2027.
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the Union government approved a proposal of the Karnataka government for modernisation and upgradation of the harbour at a cost of ₹37.47 crore in 2024 with the Central share of ₹22.48 crore under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). In that, the State government has spent ₹6.31 crore.
The project was envisaged to facilitate berthing facilities for 1,600 fishing vessels and to benefit about 18,000 fishers and associated stakeholders in the fisheries sector, the Minister said.
