MLA distributes borewell pump sets to SC/ST farmers
Basanagouda Daddal, Raichur Rural MLA, distributed 27 borewell pump sets to SC/ST farmers in Raichur to support agriculture and strengthen irrigation. He highlighted continuous efforts to improve farmers' livelihoods and requested the Chief Minister to declare Raichur taluk as drought-hit due to short rainfall.
Why it matters
This initiative directly addresses agricultural infrastructure and farmer welfare, particularly for marginalized communities, and highlights government response to drought conditions, which are critical for food security and regional economic stability.
To extend support to farmers and strengthen agricultural infrastructure in the constituency, Basanagouda Daddal, Raichur Rural MLA, distributed borewell pump sets to beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) in Raichur on Sunday.
A total of 27 borewell pump sets were handed over during the event, benefiting 15 farmers from the ST community and 12 from the SC community, respectively.
Addressing the farmers after the distribution of the pump sets, Mr. Daddal said that the pump sets would significantly help agricultural operations and strengthen local irrigation facilities.
”Farmers are the backbone of our society. Since 2018, over 1,000 borewell pump sets have been distributed so far to farmers across all communities in the Raichur Rural constituency. Our continuous effort is aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods and providing them with essential infrastructure for cultivation,” the MLA said.
