MANILA, Philippines - Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. expects the prevailing rainy season to fuel demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs), including electrified models, as it expands its Philippine lineup to further penetrate its largest market outside Japan.
"With the rainy season currently being experienced in the Philippines, we anticipate that more Filipinos may prefer vehicles with higher ground clearance, particularly SUVs," Mitsubishi said in a statement.

"This could support stronger demand for electrified SUVs compared with electrified sedans, as SUVs provide greater confidence and practicality when navigating flooded or uneven roads," the company added.
To capitalize on that expected demand, Mitsubishi introduced the all-new Outlander PHEV to the Philippine market on Thursday.
The electric SUV has 199 millimeters of ground clearance and a combined driving range of up to 1,000 kilometers using its gasoline engine and electric motors.
