Kashmir chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday (July 31, 2026) demanded a prompt, impartial and transparent investigation into the cycle of killing in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and appealed to Pakistan “to engage sincerely with the representatives of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC)”, a civil society group spearheading an agitation over several demands there.
Addressing the Friday (July 31) congregation at the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar, the Mirwaiz said he was “deeply concerned over the continuing unrest and tragic loss of lives across the Line of Control, particularly in Rawalakot”.
