Ministers launch expansion of breakfast scheme in Salem, Namakkal districts

Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban, Commercial Taxes Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan and Health Minister K.G. Arunraj launched the expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme in Salem and Namakkal districts, respectively, on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).

Following Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s launch of the expansion at Chennai, Minister Parthiban inaugurated the expansion at Ammapet Boys Higher Secondary School in the presence of District Collector K. Elambahavath and Salem Corporation Commissioner Lalitaditya Neelam. The Minister sat for the meal along with the students.

He said that, earlier, under the breakfast scheme, 94,006 students from 1,418 schools studying in Classes I to V were benefitting in Salem district. Through the expansion, a total of 75,175 students studying in 625 schools from Class VI to VIII will be benefited.
