Ministers inaugurate new Cooptex showroom at Sellur
Government ministers inaugurated a new 'Malligai Cooptex' showroom in Sellur, Tamil Nadu, built under the Virudhunagar Handloom Mega Cluster Scheme. The store offers significant discounts to boost festive sales and support local handloom weavers.

Minister for Higher Education P.Viswanathan and Minister for Handlooms, Textiles, and Khadi M. Vijay Balaji inaugurated ‘Malligai Cooptex’ showroom on Station Road near the Sellur bridge here on Tuesday.
The shop was built on 6,750 square feet at a cost of ₹4.80 crore under the Virudhunagar Handloom Mega Cluster Scheme. The Ministers also launched the showroom’s special Deepavali discount sale.
The newly opened outlet has set a Deepavali sales target of ₹ 1 crore. To mark the festive season, the showroom has rolled out a special discount of up to 30% on all fabric purchases.
Shoppers could explore a vast inventory tailored for the festival, including traditional and contemporary silk sarees, premium cotton sarees, cotton dhotis, home furnishings like bedspreads, and value-added apparel featuring modern designs crafted specifically for younger generations.
Established in 1935, Cooptex remains India’s largest apex handloom weavers’ cooperative society.
