Minister seeks probe into theft of funds at Medical college hospital

Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has written to the Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala requesting an investigation into the alleged theft of funds linked to the functioning of the Hospital Development Society at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College.
The action follows serious findings in the audit report of the HDS. The 2021 audit report uncovered irregularities amounting to ₹46 lakh. In the light of this, the Medical College’s Medical Superintendent handed over the audit report to the government for further action.
Daily revenue from the HMC lab, MRI scan, and ultrasound scan sections had been entered in the ledger but was not deposited in the bank, indicating misappropriation. The Minister decided to order a detailed investigation as on the face of it, the report pointed to serious financial irregularities and lapses in financial management.
