Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa assured a delegation on Thursday that necessary steps would be taken to fulfil the demands of midday meal workers, including fixing a minimum wage and increasing the lump-sum amount.

The Minister made this assurance during a meeting at his office with members of the State Akshara Dasoha Midday Meal Workers Association, who had been protesting at Freedom Park.

“A cabinet sub-committee has been constituted regarding the revision of minimum wages. I am also a member of it. I am definitely paying attention to the problems of midday meal workers. You are a part of the government and are taking care of our children. I will discuss this issue with the Chief Minister and (I will) help you according to government rules,” the Minister assured the delegation.
