Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar inspects Pudumandapam control room ahead of Meenakshi Temple consecration
Authorities in Madurai have established a high-tech control room and deployed extensive security and transit measures for the upcoming Meenakshi Temple consecration. The plan includes thousands of police personnel, facial recognition technology, and expanded bus services to manage the expected influx of pilgrims.

With the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple consecration fast approaching, Minister for Energy Resources and Law C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar conducted an inspection of the newly established Integrated Control Room at Pudumandapam.
Set up near the Nandi statue, the high-tech command centre will serve as the nerve centre for pilgrim safety, crowd control, and real-time monitoring throughout the consecration. Following his inspection of the facility, the Minister held a review meeting with senior district administrators and elected representatives.
The control room operates under a Special District Revenue Officer, where pilgrims can access round-the-clock emergency assistance via toll-free hotlines (1800-425-6781 and 1800-425-6782). A robust security grid of 3,500 police personnel will be deployed, supported by 207 CCTV cameras, 70 facial recognition system units, 10 police help desks, and 41 public-facing LED display screens, said a press statement of the district administration.
