Minimum wage hikes set to begin across 5 provinces

Five Canadian provinces are implementing minimum wage increases ranging from 25 to 40 cents per hour. These adjustments are largely tied to the rising cost of living, though Alberta remains an outlier with no increase since 2019.
Why it matters
Wage adjustments directly impact the purchasing power of low-income workers and reflect broader economic policy responses to inflation.
The minimum wage is going up in five provinces.
The bumps of between 25 and 40 cents come in Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Like other government announcements, Ontario has tied the increase to the rising cost of living.
