Minister for Electricity and Law R. Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday said that ministers and officials who looted natural resources in the past and illegally received more than 98% of the revenue would have to face the music soon.

The Minister garlanded the statue of martyr Poolithevan at his memorial at Nerkattumseval in the district on his 311t h birth anniversary.

Speaking to reporters, he claimed that only 2% of the mineral resources quarried in the past were accounted for while the remaining 98% of sand, clay, red soil and stone from government or private patta lands were illegally removed and sold inside Tamil Nadu and other States for huge money.

In other words, the government was losing over 98% of the revenue, which should be streamlined. The mining violations were being detected through proper survey so as to book the violators, who would have to face legal consequences, he said.
