Milk procurement of Tiruchi Aavin takes a hit

The Tiruchi Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, popularly known as Tiruchi Aavin, continues to face issues in milk procurement due to the prolonged summer and competitive prices offered by the private dairies.
The union, one of the oldest and highest milk procurement and processing unions attached to the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation, procured milk from about 51,000 member suppliers attached to 612 cooperative societies in Tiruchi, Ariyalur, and Perambalur districts. After the creation of a new Union with the inclusion of Ariyalur and Perambalur districts that came into effect a few months ago, the Tiruchi Aavin procures only from farmers in Tiruchi district.
