Milford road closes ahead of forecast snow
New Zealand authorities have closed several roads due to avalanche risks and heavy rainfall across the South Island and Northland. MetService has issued severe weather warnings for wind and snow in multiple regions.

MetService has issued road snowfall warnings for the Crown Range Road, Lindis Pass and Arthurs Pass.
There is an orange strong wind warning in place for Hawkes Bay from 7pm tonight, with gusts of up to 120 kilometres an hour possible.
Several roads closed in Whangārei after heavy rain caused flooding this weekend.
MetService meterologist Braydon White says it has lifted its rain warning for the region and that yesterday's heavy downpours have eased.
He says up to 120 millimetres of rain fell in an hour in some parts, while there was up to 90mm in an hour in Kerikeri.
