Microsoft confirms first major Windows event in two years, but don't hold your breath for Windows 12

Microsoft will hold a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on October 7, 2026, at 10 AM PT (1 PM ET), its first major Windows event since May 2024. The event will highlight “how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC,” with CEO Satya Nadella , NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang , and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri all confirmed to attend.
We expect to hear more information about the Surface Laptop Ultra, the NVIDIA RTX Spark chip powering it, and the PC ecosystem built around local AI.
On May 31, 2026, Microsoft made a bombshell of an announcement with the Surface Laptop Ultra, featuring a design that looks classy and minimal and yet packs in a ton of ports and impressive cooling, making us believe it is Microsoft’s proper answer to the MacBook Pro.
