MGMGH performs EUS-guided cystogastrostomy on two patients
Doctors at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Tiruchi successfully performed an EUS-guided cystogastrostomy on two patients. This minimally invasive procedure allows for the drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts without the need for open surgery.

Two patients with large pancreatic pseudocysts have been treated using endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) cystogastrostomy, an internal fluid drainage procedure, at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Tiruchi, recently.
The patients, a 50-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, were diagnosed with large pancreatic pseudocysts measuring about 16 cm. Both underwent (EUS)-guided cystogastrostomy at the Department of Medical and Interventional Gastroenterology.
EUS-guided cystogastrostomy is an advanced minimally invasive procedure in which endoscopic ultrasound is used to accurately identify the mature pancreatic pseudocyst and create a safe internal drainage pathway between the cyst and the stomach. This allows the fluid collection to drain into the stomach, thereby avoiding open surgery and external drainage in appropriately selected patients.
