MGM Cancer Institute marks World Rose Day with survivor support initiative
MGM Cancer Institute in Chennai celebrated World Rose Day by honoring cancer survivors and launching an education support initiative for young bone marrow transplant recipients. The program, in partnership with Anamaya Children’s Trust, provides financial aid for the schooling of underprivileged survivors.

MGM Cancer Institute, Chennai, commemorated World Rose Day on Thursday by recognising cancer survivors, distributing roses to them and launching an education support initiative for young survivors who have undergone bone marrow transplantation.
The institute, in association with Anamaya Children’s Trust, launched the Swasthi Patient Benefit Card to provide financial assistance for the education of underprivileged children who have survived cancer and undergone bone marrow transplantation. Eligible beneficiaries will receive support when they reach Classes X and XII. Selection will be based on specified criteria, including treatment under government-sponsored schemes.
M. Deenadayalan, head and clinical lead, Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT), said advances in targeted therapy, immunotherapy, transplantation and cellular therapy had improved outcomes for children with cancer. M. Gopinathan, consultant, Hemato-Oncology (BMT), said World Rose Day was an opportunity to show solidarity with patients, recognise survivors and acknowledge caregivers.
