Metrowater to step up drinking water quality monitoring
Chennai Metrowater is increasing water quality monitoring efforts in preparation for the upcoming Northeast monsoon. The agency is focusing on infrastructure maintenance and encouraging residents to report quality issues.

Chennai Metrowater has intensified the monitoring of drinking water quality in its supply systems as a precautionary measure ahead of the Northeast monsoon.
On average, Metrowater’s Quality Assurance Wing collects about 900 water samples every month, including from households, pipelines, and treatment plants.
A press release said field-level monitoring and preparedness measures would be intensified to rectify the defects in water quality detected in the distribution network.
Metrowater is also taking measures to promptly detect damage caused to its infrastructure by various infrastructure and development projects.
