Metrowater MD inspects Chembarambakkam treatment plant
Chennai Metrowater officials inspected the Chembarambakkam water treatment plant and auxiliary storage sites at local quarries. While the city has sufficient water storage, the inspection ensures readiness of infrastructure for future needs.

Chennai Metrowater Managing Director T. Anand, on Tuesday, inspected the operation of Chembarambakkam water treatment plant and water storage infrastructure created at abandoned quarries at Sikkarayapuram and Erumaiyur.
A press release said water is supplied to nearly 20 lakh residents, including to those in the Adyar and Alandur zones and the neighbouring Tambaram Corporation from the Chembarambakkam water treatment plant.
Mr. Anand also inspected the buffer water sources created at Erumaiyur and Sikkarayapuram quarries. With a storage capacity of 0.50 thousand million cubic feet (mcft), Sikkarayapuram quarries now have a storage of 0.37 tmc.
