Jordan Yap, 30, was reported missing by his family last month when he failed to check into a hotel and missed his flight.
He had been on a multi-day hike in Peru's Huayhuash region.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Peru.
