Mehbooba Mufti appeals to 'secular-minded' people to join protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on September 29

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday (September 26, 2026) appealed to "secular-minded" people to join a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on September 29 against "injustices" and to "protect" the country's democracy, brotherhood, and composite culture.

Ms. Mufti said the protest has been organised by the Monitoring Committee for Indian Muslims.

"You know that today in our country, mosques, shrines, and churches are being demolished with great ruthlessness. Apart from this, in the voter lists that are being prepared, the names of Opposition supporters, secular-minded people, and especially Muslims, are being removed," she said in a video posted on her X account.
