Meeting held to review special bus arrangements for festivals

Officials in Chennai held a meeting to coordinate special bus arrangements for the upcoming Aayudha Puja and Deepavali festivals. The plan aims to manage increased passenger traffic and prevent congestion at major transit hubs.
Why it matters
Effective public transport management is critical for handling the massive seasonal migration of people during major Indian festivals.
A meeting was held on Saturday to review the arrangements for operating special buses by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for the upcoming holidays on account of Aayudha Puja and Deepavali.
Since many will leave for their home towns to celebrate the festivals, additional special buses will be operated. In the meeting held at the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus in Kilambakkam, discussions were held regarding the operation of special buses, omni buses, basic amenities for passengers, and measures to be taken to prevent traffic congestion. Discussions were also held to create temporary bus stands and identify locations for the parking of additional buses.
