His hometown, Irinjalakuda, is renowned for its performing arts. There, Radhakrishnan developed an early love for both scientific learning and Indian classical traditions.
He trained in Kerala Natanam and later learnt Kathakali. Alongside this, he studied electrical engineering, graduating in 1970 before choosing science as his profession.
Becoming a scientist didn't silence the artist in him. After joining ISRO as an avionics engineer, he studied at IIM Bangalore between 1974 and 1976 and began learning Carnatic music too.
